I pulled Western Suburbs roster off of USA Rugby and found that we're up a bunch of players. I've featured some of them here already, but here's who is new since the last time I pulled our roster: * Previously played for Suburbs, but it has been a bit. With an April 10 deadline for CIPP and Dues, we may top 100 players with Suburbs which would be awesome.

Lots of updates on the website so check out the Gallery page for pics from Savannah and the Chambersburg game. We didn't get the result we wanted in Chambersburg, but we did finish strong in the third 30 minute period with a few tries. In the end, it was 25-33, with several new guys playing their first game with Suburbs. Congrats to Carter "Hodor" Simmons, Christian Merino, Ryan McGough, and Mason Baxter for their first tries with our club.
Fairfax County has released our field so we will be doing practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8-10 PM at Poplar Tree Park, Field #2. Poplar Tree Park's address is 4718 Stringfellow Road, Chantilly, Virginia. I've got another hundred photos from the Chambersburg game to go through and expect to get them up on Wednesday. This is Dido Subayi. Dido joined our club recently and comes to us from Old Dominion University where he played as a scrumhalf and wing. As a forward, my oxygen-starved brain is always hoping for a scrumhalf to bark orders at me so let's hope Dido is our man for that. Welcome to Western Suburbs!
This week Western Suburbs saw a few new faces come out. Peyton "Annie" Davey was busy recruiting and here are a couple of the guys that he has gotten out for Suburbs. Great job Peyton! This is Kevin Lugo. He played at West End and has also played with NOVA. This is Christian Merino. He is Daniel "Tonto" Merino's brother who played flanker and center at West End. As we started this season without letting you about new faces on the pitch, I'm also trying to go back and let you know about guys that have joined our club this season as well. As you know, our club has our share of Radford alums and Beau adds to that list. Welcome to Western Suburbs!
Google updated their contacts feature making it simple to find duplicates, merge contacts, assign to groups, etc. If you are receiving club emails at the wrong address, receiving it multiple times, let me know so that I can update your contact info.
On Saturday, Morven Park cancelled our game against Patuxent River RFC. The coaching staff quickly came up with an alternative, an intersquad scrimmage at Panzer Pitch. With the recent weather, the pitch was soft and muddy and a good time was had by all. Here's our newest teammate, Ryan McGough. Ryan's previous rugby experience found him playing flanker and center at Radford and in Texas. Good job on Matt Ferguson for encouraging to come on out and welcome to the club, Ryan!
Since our game pitch is closed, we are having an unofficial Practice/Scrimmage at Panzer Pitch instead at 12 PM today. See you there.
Western Suburbs will be taking on Pax River RFC tomorrow at 2 PM at Morven Park, Field 2. The address to Morven Park is 41973 Tutt Lane, Leesburg, VA. Players should be on their best behavior as there will be lots of children and parents, so mind your swearing and drinking, you filthy animals. Players should arrive no later than 12:30 PM so that they can support the young ruggers, but there is rugby all day so you are welcome to come earlier to get your fix.
Here's the rugby schedule: Field 1 U13 Boys 9:30 AM U15 Boys 10:30 AM HS Girls 12:00 PM MS Girls 1:30 PM Field 2 HS JV Boys 11:00 AM HS V Boys 12:30 PM WS Men 2:00 PM Western Suburbs had another great practice and was fortunate to welcome a few more players to our club. This is Joel Townsend. He has an English buddy who has been encouraging to join the pack and so he's taken the plunge. When he played football, he was a punter so perhaps you'll see more kicks taken by the forwards. This is Charles Geddes. He's a quick 6'4" who is looking forward to learning rugby with our club. This is Paul McGrath. He played four years at James Madison with most of that as flyhalf. He's also played fullback and center as well so that flexibility should be a big asset in the back line. This is Rich Roudybush. He played for George Mason and then Washington RFC and was one of inaugural players for Northern Virginia RLC. His sons are playing rugby and it has reignited his passion for the game. Welcome out guys, it'll be great to have you on the club!
The Savannah Morning News covered the Savannah St. Patrick's Day Rugby Tournament and some our guys have pics in this slideshow. Check them out!
