Dream Job: Jet Pilot
Nickname: Big Steve
How long have you played with Suburbs: since 2005ish
Which team do you look forward to playing most: The next team on the schedule. I just love playing rugby so every day I get to step on the field against an opposing side is a good day for me.
Favorite Beer: Morning Glory Espresso Stout (Dominion Brewery), Imperial (Costa Rica)
Favorite Suburbs Memory:
On the field- When I first started with the club I was playing B side and an old boy (I can't remember which one) came up to me and said if you score a try today I will buy a keg for the team. So about halfway through the first half I took a penalty tap over the try line to score. The old boy lived up to his word and bought a keg for the team at our next home social.
Off the field- The outpouring of support the team showed when my mom passed. It was impressive to me and the rest of my family.
Who has most impacted your rugby career: Probably the academic advisor from my college team Doc Warner. He called me after I was accepted in college because I checked rugby as a club I might be interested in, and told me to show up to college a week early for rugby camp. By the end of the end of that week I was an A-side prop playing a game that I didn't understand and loving it. If it wasn't for Doc I may have never stepped onto a rugby pitch.
What do you love most about Suburbs: I love the people. We are a diverse group who all come together to work towards one goal. We all look out for each other on and off the field.
