The 40th event was fabulous. M&S Grill of Reston provided us with a wonderful room and provided us with delicious food to celebrate our 40th year as a club. A special thanks to Jim Barrett for extending us such a warm welcome at his restaurant. Members past and present came out and joined in the camaraderie. We had a few planned guest speakers: Buzz McClain, Jerry "Hurricane" Baker, and Andrew Leonard, who collectively shared how much the club has given them, the characters that helped shaped the club, and a fresh perspective on what the club is and what makes it special. Additionally, there were colorful impromptu speeches from some of the Old Boys.
Events like this give us an opportunity to reflect on where the club has been and where the club is going, and they also give us an opportunity to reflect on the club members who have helped define the club. There are members of the club who actively foster our rugby family and guide the club to be a rugby for life club. Jeff "STAX" Carrington has carried the mantle of Head Coach since I've been with the club and has, without a doubt, helped make the club a rugby family. As such, it is with great honor that STAX was awarded lifetime membership for his service to the club, both on and off the pitch, and to the very fiber of the club.
Finally, the event wouldn't have been as much fun as it was without the support of Brad Barker, James Gravatt, Jerry "Hurricane" Baker, and Keven "El Jefe" Corry for sponsoring beer and wine, respectively. Additionally, Kelly "Weanie Boy" Watkins was crucial in facilitating logistics.

Western Suburbs v Cefn Cribwr RFC 5/14/16
On Saturday, May 14, Western Suburbs had the privilege of playing Cefn Cribwr RFC. Cefn Cribwr is currently touring the US from Wales, and we were their first match. After a week of rain, we were lucky to get a solid break in the weather so the field had time to drain. The game was a solid contest, but in the end Cefn Cribwr earned their victory. The post-game social was held at O'Sullivan's Irish Pub in Herndon, Virginia, where the food was delicious, the beer was cold, and the rugby family was on full display.
If you have any photos of the game, please email them to us so that they may be added to this collection.
