Onwards and upwards,
Just a quick little reminder to all of those who have fogotten, vote for MVP in the message board, we need to get them there results in before the banquet. Speaking of which you all need to RSVP with a meal choice, as I have done (mmmm food). Finally and of more pressing news is that we need some warm bodies at Fat Tuesday's in Fairfax (also known as Fat's or The Deuce). There was a great turnout last week and it was great to see all your ugly mugs out there.

Happy New years folks,

The MO will be as in the past with appetizer trays during happpy hour, the first 2 kegs of PBR included with dinner fee and a cash bar. The entre choices are, eggplant parmesan with pasta and green beans, grilled lemon chicken breast with rice and veg medley, Prime rib au jous (yes Lew, prime rib) with baked potato and green beans and fresh broiled salmon with lemon butter sauce, red potatoes and veg medley. Please respond here with rsvp and dinner choice. The price for dinner inc tip is $30 for U-19's and $ 50 for adults. If you attended last year (scout's honor), and ordered prime rib, we will discount you $10 which means $40 for dinner. Payment is to be made at the door. Bring extra cash for raffles/auction items. Scrummy please e-bomb this as some people are not on the message board and rsvp to my cell 301-536-5159 or jbush@combustioneer.com. Thanks ps-CUT OFF IS FEB 1 AS OUR HEAD COUNT AND MENU CHOICES WILL BE DUE!!
Succinct and to the point me thinks, now onto the other news for that banquet, Scrumhalf David will be putting a pole together for voting of this years awards, including MVP, Most Improved and the lot. Now we need everyone to vote on that as soon as possible.
Also, the schedule for the upcoming year will be posted as soon as I get it. That includes practices as well. Finally, there are track suits available for $40 on a first come first serve basis, so get em while they are hot as I believe we are running low on them.

What seems to be the cause of all this?!
Gents, seems to me that the Pub Crawl was a darn tooting good time. The next one is scheduled for December 10th of next year so book that weekend up now. I was unable to attend due to a prior engagement but fret not I shall be at the next one, and you can take that to the bank. Now, for the news of the Day, looks like we are trying to gain some sponsership money from Fat Tuesday's now, I believe the best way to do this would be to put some butts in some seats. Looks like the owner is in town so lets show our beautiful faces at the place.
Also, Kris has obtained some track suits for the team and they will be sold on a first come first server basis, looks like about $40 for them with your name and number on it. The suits look great and came out fantastic so I would not count on them staying around for too long!

Whose my special little guy? PUB CRAWL
O boy, I can sense it in the air, can you? Children are singing and the temperature is dropping. It's about that time once again for everybody to saddle on up for the annual Pub Crawl. Look, lets be honest here and just between friends, I am just a simple man with simple delights and one of those is Bacon Cupcakes dipped in Chocolate dipped in bacon grease, another one happens to be Pub Crawls in all there splendor and glory. Just think about this concept: "We heading to the bar, then another bar, and so on until you can barely walk." its pure genius. It was on a Pub Crawl that yours truly was able to finally punch his school mascot which is really a highpoint for yours truly (that Knight had it coming). But enough about me and more about the main event. WHERE: at Uncle Julio's Mexican Restaurant, you will notice that is a Mexican Restaurant and not Mexican't Restaurant so bring that go get em' attitude. WHEN: 8PM on December 11th.
Now there has been some dispute on the attire and what would happen if it gets cold out. Well let me say this, you are not permitted to cut me open like Han's TaunTaun in Episode V, but you are welcome to bitch about the weather that's about as much slack as I can cut ya. However, the attire which has been unchanged for years is (based on my understanding and limited reading abilities): Santa Hats, Hawaiian Shirt and Rugby Shorts. Now I know the current rugby shorts don't have pockets as they are very European *Puts on Hipster glasses*, but I believe with the ingenuity that I have seen displayed time and time again will help those in need of carrying recepticals. That Pub Crawl update for today... Two Days Boys!

Gents we got a change of plans for the PUB CRAWL! next weekend. It will be the same Bat Time, but at a different BAT place. Seems as M&S has been rented out for the evening so the new jump off will be at UNCLE JULIO’S Mexican restaurant down the street. Now, I know you all know the deal, but one more time.... Santa Hats, Hawaiian Shirts, and rugby shorts. No wives girlfriends or any special lady friends of any kind are allowed. Thems the rules. Six day's boys until the Reston Town Center gets invaded by Ruggers dressed to the nines.
This aint no bar waddle, this is a public house crawl....

Annnnnnd we are back!,
I hope everyone had a safe and happy Thanksgiving, the news of the next two weeks is this.... CHRISTMAS PUB CRAWL TIME! Everybody should know the drill and for those who don't here is the scoop! On December the 11th there will be a pub crawl in honor of Christmas and as a team get together... now. The Apparel of the night will be: Santa Hats, Hawaiian Shirts and Rugby Shorts. There will be no Girlfriends, wives, or lady friends of any kind. No Exceptions. Well now onto the time and place! M&S grill 8 PM in the Reston Town Center, book your hotels now as you will probably need it. Let's get a huge turnout!
Pub Crawl, Pub Crawl, Pub Crawl, Pub Crawl, Pub Crawl, Pub Crawl!

News you can use!
Okey dokey, there are a just few things on the rugby news side of things starting with the 2010 Ambassadors Shield Rugby Match this Sunday, which will kick off at 2:30 and have rugby events all day. For more info you can visit there site here as it looks to be a good time. There has been some rumblings on trying to get a weekly social gathering going, which would typically be on Thursday nights. This would keep the team in touch during the offseason while also leading to the possibility of gaining potential sponsers wherever we end up, please post up on the message board if you are interested or have any idears. Also, OD has posted that there will be a mini-tourney for the Old Boys on 11/21, it would be great to get a numbers out for it and have most of the club come out and support them Old guys. OD has requested that you post on the message board and send him an email if you are interested. Finally, the yearly Team Christmas Pub Crawl will be happening on December 11th, the attire is Santa Hats, Hawaiian shirts, and rugby shorts. I will post more specific details as the date approaches but clear your calendars as I expect to see all your smiling faces there.
Now for what you have all been waiting for..... Barge's Breakdown!
This week's review will be about a little action movie that came out in the last year entitled "From Paris with Love". The movie with the title inspired by the Bond classic, which might be the best of the series, is a down and dirty little film with a very game Travolta hamming it up while the rest of the cast tries to keep up. It's about a diplomats aide (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) who is trying to help an eccentric spy (Travolta) stop some terrorists or something and save the day. As far as recent action films go the film is an easy breezy recommendation with some solid dialogue and some inventive set pieces. I have a few qualms which I will address later, but nothing that should hold any adult male from enjoying the film.
First though, we need to cover the technical details! This film and another modern minor action classic "Taken" were Directed by Pierre Morel (french guy) and partially written by the sometimes great and always prolific Luc Besson (another French guy, Leon, The Fifth Element). The film was a quick and refreshingly steady handed romp through Paris with little "shaky cam" (think "The Bourne Suprememcy") work on it at all. As with "Taken" the film was a French production for American audiences, which is why it comes off as a change of pace from your typical Hollywood action films and mostly works wonderfully.
It is a fascinating cultural experiment look as Travolta plays a charismatic American spy who is "fighting terrorism" but was written by a couple of French dudes. One of the first thing that struck me is that the character is loud and brash and always right, there is no ambiguity when it comes to what to do and who to shoot. This harkens back to many of the old Chuck Bronson flicks and even some of the 80's action fare staring the current California Guvnor. His mission is always right and there is no cynisism towards his handlers like there seems to be in so many American made action films. Look no further than any of the recent action films like "The A-Team", "The Losers", or even back to the Bourne Franchise again, and while the "plot" of those films hinge on questioning the ones in power, the total lack of that aspect in this film is both very interesting and odd at the same time. For me this character boils down to one of two points of view: Is this is how the rest of the world percieves America?, Is it in fact how the rest of world thinks Americans percieve America. Besson(still a French guy) wanted to write an action film which appealled to American audiences so he could get some of that sweet sweet American greenback. The character he comes up with is what he thought would play to American audiences. You have to wonder if he kept the character so black and white to appeal to the audience or if that was simply the story he was trying to tell. It's a fascinating subtext which can be taken from a movie that has little to no subtext at all.
The other point which is a quick one is the misogynistic nature of the film and action films in general. To be blunt I usually don't care about this sort of thing, these films are made to appeal to a demographic which I fall in and they work. I like explosions and guns and the whole nine yards, however this is the I don't want to harp on this like an old feminist, *Spoiler Alert*but this film is the second in which a female character is shot unexpectedly while sitting at the dinner table. It was done in "Taken" to get some information and done again here because Travolta figured out she was a spy. It was a lowpoint it what was otherwise a flighty genre picture, I hope in the future that the two creative minds behind the film try to use less brutality towards women to advance the plot.*End Spoilers* I don't mind me seeing some bad guys get limbs blown off and what not, but lets leave the ladies along, ok? That about sums it up for me, I will be trying in the future to track down some rugby movies, but cupboard looks pretty bare with either uninspired efforts ("Forever Strong") leading the way.

Que elevator music,
Ladies and gentlemen, well mostly gentlemen, happy friday to you all. It's been kinda of a slow news week *Shows clip of squirrel water skiing*, but I will give ya what I got because it's nice to be nice to the nice. To the news!
Our fearless Ugandan Giant Kris has posted that there will be some top notch rugby this weekend starting at 10 in the AM at Fado's. Post up on the message board if you are interested as the big guy wants a good group out. Also, OD has been trying to drub up interest in getting people together for a run on Panzer pitch on the weekends, he is looking at either Saturday or Sunday in the morning. Once again post up on the message board if you are interested and remember that spring is right around the corner, *looks at own bulbus belly and nods*. Ok, I believe that is the rugby news for the week...
Now onto a new feature which will hopefully be filling up column space on Fridays.... Barge's Breakdown! *echo*. This will be a quick little movie review each week of something you should or should not watch. As a critic the answer to your questions are: Yes I saw it and no I didn't like it. Little critic humor for the kids.
Well first up this week is John Carpenter's 1982 classic 'The Thing' starring Kurt Russell. A combination of fantastic setting, chilling score, and wonderfull gore affects lead to a film that initially flopped, but eventually found new life in good ole home video. The quick and dirty plot synopsis is that an alien lifeform which can replicate anything it touches starts running amok in a research station in the antartic. It's up to our increasingly paranoid crew to try and survive both the harsh elements and the deadly monster.
Carpenter is at the top of his form in the film before he would eventually lose his mind in the 1990's, his output in the late 70's into the early 80's is a streak of excellence in Horror that few can match with great films like 'Halloween', 'Assault on Precinct 13', 'Escape from New York' and the underrated 'The Fog' followed by this film which would be the highlight of almost any horror directors career. Ennio Morricone ('The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly') shows once again that he is a master of the form and should be considered with John Williams as one of the best ever. He builds suspense with the score and it is a shame that he did not do more work with Carpenter. The cast is suitably paranoid and each character is believable in there own role.
If your looking for a great creature feature by one of the best ever, you would have a hard time finding a better film. Score: 9.5 (out of 10).
"I know I'm human. And if you were all these things, then you'd just attack me right now, so some of you are still human. This thing doesn't want to show itself, it wants to hide inside an imitation. It'll fight if it has to, but it's vulnerable out in the open. If it takes us over, then it has no more enemies, nobody left to kill it. And then it's won." - Barge
Ghouls and Goblins,
Happy Halloween weekend, hope everyone is ready to get down and boogie woogie in honor of All Hallows eve. This will be a quick post with a word from our very own Eric Bana look-a-like Munich. Hit it:Munich here: I’m taking part in a volunteer trip to Uganda to promote, organize, and coach youth rugby!
Located near the primary source of the Nile upon Lake Victoria, lies Jinja, home of the U-14 Jinja Dragons, Nile RFC. This youth rugby organization started with just a few dedicated individuals a few years ago, and now has enough players to field practices five days a week and feed into the local areas men’s teams. Despite the enormous enthusiasm of the young players, much effort has to be put into the club in order to ensure its existence. Many participants must commute three hours from school in Kampala each day, and on top of that the club has nowhere near the financial support clubs like ours in America enjoy.
Already my college team has sent over boots, rucking pads, and jerseys to help assist the Dragons.
I will be leaving on the 15th of December and will stay in Jinja for the month of my winter break away from school. While there, I will assist in running practices and games six days a week as a backs coach, and volunteering in clinics and orphanages when I’m not on the pitch.
As fellow ruggers, I ask you to please aid me in my journey over to Uganda to preserve and assist the growth of the U-14 Jinja Dragons! Below are instructions on how to make a monetary donation to my cause! My target amount is $3000 for travel, room, and board. Donations are tax deductible, and should something happen that prevents me from going, will be refunded.
Please send all donations in by the 14th of November! If you have any questions, please email me at camsters18@gmail.com, or you may call me at 571-246-6287 (feel free to leave a voice message if I don’t answer and I’ll get back to you when I can). Hi,
It has just come to my attention that in the last post I made a rather crude remark which I have since pulled down. I would like to make a formal public apology about slighting anyone who has been in or has worked with the Special Olympics. Even though what I said was in pure jest It was not my intention to strike such a nerve. With this being a public forum and one of the major contacts between the club and the public it was wrong of me to post anything of that nature here. The comment was ignorant and should have never been posted, for that I give my sincerest apology.

Ok, last post of the fall season,
Gents its been a long and trying season filled with many ups and downs, which will come to an end on Saturday at our home pitch against Frederick. As usual we will be looking for people to set up early and for everyone to be there by 11:30 and no later.
Practice will be tonight at 8 on Poplar tree park with a gathering at Fat Tuesdays afterward. Fat Tuesday is looking to become a sponser so we need "butts in seats", as beer drinking is the only thing I am even modestly good at you know my charming face will be there. Lets end the practice season on a high note with a large gathering on and off the field in preparation of our game.
On the other side of the news desk we have this: Mrs. Lough is participating in a food drive and it would be fantastic if everyone could bring something out. The holiday season is almost (65 shopping days left until Christmas) upon us and every little bit helps. Also there is a call for side dishes to brought for the social after the game on saturday as well. The team will be providing its usual spread and other dishes would be greatly appreciated. See the message board for details on these topics and so much more!
Finally, as I will surely be voted out as your(stunningly handsome) webmaster, I want to say that its been quite the adventure serving you (albeit rather poorly) as your globetrotting expidition leader through the inter webz. I hope the next guy is better at this than I am and I give my apologies on the lackluster work on the site. Also, there is no spell check on this so I don't know what I spelled wrong because I can't spell to begin with. And on that note I will leave you this: "Don't be a hippie" - Barge
Gents,
After a tough hard fought loss to Richmond this weekend it is time to turn our attention towards our home match with Frederick. Practice will be comenciating tonight at 8 in the P.M. on Poplar tree Park #1. Looking to get good numbers out there tonight to end the season on a high note.
Got this little diddy from El Presidente himself, there will be a coaching clinic in Charlottesville on November 20-21 for anyone interested. See information: Introducing Rugby and Developing skills. Thats everything on my news desk, hope to see you all out on the pitch! EDIT: The Club will not be paying for anyone to go, only Kris and Stax

*Ninja kick*
Ok that was a ninja kick to practice tonight which has been CANCELLED due to rain. Keep your eyes and ears and hearts open for upcoming news (carpool, departure time, reports of Ryan punching a clown, etc) for this weekends game in Richmond.

Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends,
Now after a hopefully restfull and recuperative bye week everyone should be ready to gear up for Richmond this weekend. That starts tonight at 8 on Poplar Tree Park #1 and I hope to see you all out there.
In other news the Yanks have in fact advanced to the next round of the Postseason with a sweep over a scrappy Twins team. Texas as they are want to do have dropped two games and face an elimination game. It pits two of the top starters in baseball with Price vs Lee. My Canadien Loony's are on Lee so book it! Hope everyone is enjoying the best month of the year and I will see you all at practice tonight.
"But sometimes when you bring the thunder, you get lost in the storm." - Barge
Alright, been about a week without a post but as this was a bye week it was also a bye week for what's new updates.
As of right meow 9:50 AM, there is no practice tomorrow, if something comes up I will gladly post it.
In other sporting news, the Yankees are now up two games to none on a very gritty Twins team. With The Rangers holding a two game lead on arguably the most talented team in the bigs, its looking like a Yankees Rangers ALCS. But as they say this is why you play the game. So for now I will continue to grow my playoff scruff and root for them Damn Yankees.
One last piece of news is that there will be a Charity event held for Paul Hoover on Saturday at 7pm at Hamiltons by the Capitol. Hoover broke his neck playing for West Pot a few weeks back and is currently recovering. This is a great cause and after a small donation at the door there will be drink specials all night. Hope to see you out.

A million and one (for Bushy) apologies,
Just started a new gig at work which I am trying to catch up on, so updates have been lacking. For news from this week, there was a chance that we were going to get rained out on Tuesday, where we would then would have gone to our backup field (Panzers Pitch), we did not get rained out so we did not have to go. Onto news for tomorrow, we will be having practice at 8 on Poplar Tree #1.... UNLESS we get rained out which would mean that we will be on Panzer Pitch at 6.

Ahoy and Happy Thursday,
Once again there will be practice tonight at 730 on Poplar Tree #1, I Repeat, practice will be commenciating at 730, so be booted up and ready to go. This will be the last training session before a tough match at Home against Severn River.
That being said, if you are not CIPP'd or have not paid your dues, you will soon be exposed as in the next post I plan (and we all know how well I plan) to start posting the names of those who have not paid their dues for public consumption. It's like the scarlet letter, except without the whole "being a whore" thing.
That about wraps it up for me so I leave you with this: "Oh, I'm sorry. Well, I can put the trash into a landfill where's gonna stay for millions of years, or I can burn it up and get a nice smoky smell in here and let that smoke goes to the sky where it turns into stars." - Barge
Gents,
After a hard fought loss this weekend we are back at it tonight at 8 on Poplar Tree #1. Be there early and booted up and ready to go.

Gonna keep it quick and dirtay today gents,
Practice is tonight at 8 on Poplar tree #1, be there around 730 to get booted up and stretched. Pay your dues by game time Saturday against the Washington Irish or you don't play.
Thats about it, this sexy beast will be missing practice tonight, but fret not I will be out on Saturday ready to run, umm jog, umm walk around the pitch and drink beer.
"No. If Sophia and I split up, 50 percent of my time I would have to spend 100 percent of my time with my kid. Right now, I'm rocking like 50 percent coverage 30 percent of my time, you cannot beat those numbers. P.S. If you are not watching "It's Always funny in Philadelphia" and "The League" start, they are the two funniest shows on TV, well after Intervention at least.
O hey there,
So it seems that I made a bit of an error on the last post. I would like to print a formal retraction of the Engagement of James and that Chad Clever is not a new daddy. I stand by my sources and won't release them. On account of all of us here at the What's New page I would like to extend my hand in apology and I promise that moving forward the news will be checked twice.
With that nasty business behind us, how aboot some rugby news eh? Practice be commencing tonight at 8 on Poplar tree #1 in preparation for our showdown with them there potato eating, corn beef loving, lucky charms hiding Washington Irish. See ya there. Molsen, Moosin', sturdy chairs, pickles, donuts, maple syrup, LaBatt's Blue, LaBatt's blue light, flannel, Mounties, Hockey, Wayne Gretzky, Basketball, Michael J Fox, Alanis Morrisett, free Healthcare, Pam Anderson, Dan Akroyd, CFL, Bret Hart, Inuits, trees, logging, John Candy, Polar Bears, Elisha Cuthbert, Maple Leafs, the canucks, your mom, Micheal Jackson, and poutine.

OOOOOOOOOO Man,
It's about time, not only will we be embarking on our next season into the seedy underworld that is Union Rugby, but the NFL kicks off tonight. I haven't been this excited since I was first in line at "Big Bob's Big Buffet Line and Vomitorium". On Saturday the fist step of many towards the playoffs starts with a very game and very tough Roanoke squad. It is imperative that everyone gets CIPP'd and also pay your dues. If you are not CIPP'd by Friday you will not be able to play, if you don't pay your dues you will not be able to play, if you don't eat your meat you can't have any pudding. So do all of the above.
Practice for our first battle will once again be tonight on Poplar Tree #1 at 8, be there early to boot up and get a stretch in so we can maximize our time on the pitch.
Onto some other news that I love like a fat kid loves pie (was always more of a pie tubby over a cake tubby) the NFL will be kicking off tonight with the WHO DAT Nation vs the Purple People Eaters. Now, personally I despise both teams but I can do a prediction or two from time to time. I believe the Saints will take the game as Farvrer (I think that's how it's spelled) is a question mark and Jared Allen cut his mullet off thus rendering himself powerless (much like Batman losing his utility belt or Pinky walking towards a toilet).
In summation: Get CIPP'd, pay your dues, play rugby, watch football, get drunk, eat pie. You can chose to ignore the last two, I obviously won't be.

O in a little Post Script(that's PS in french), I would like to send out two congratulations, first to our very own James Bethune for his engagement and secondly to Chad "Good Chad" Clever on the impending birth of his child. Congrats fellers!
Welcome back,
After a nice long Labor Day weekend hopefully everyone is recharged/healed up and ready to rock this weekend. Practice is tonight at 8 on Poplar tree #1. The game is this weekend at our Home Pitch, I will post directions on Thursday. Everyone needs to make sure they are CIPP'd by Friday if they plan on playing this weekend, also pay yo dues.

G'day,
The team traveled to Richmond the previous weekend and we wen 1-2 with a fantastic write up by "Old Man" Joe up on the Message board which I highly suggest everyone give a read. We will continue our training tonight at 8 on Poplar tree #1. Be there a few minutes early and booted so we can get rolling on time.
Got an email from our beloved sponsor:
"Pabst is having a huge event this Sunday Sept 5th from 12-8pm at Solly’s. If you are in town we would appreciate your support. In 2009 Solly took over the top spot for PBR sales in Washington DC and this party is in recognition for that honor. I have attached two flyers, both are the same just in different formats. We will have games starting at noon, later in the afternoon we will have free BBQ from Rockland’s (this time I will not be in a hair net) followed by some bands that will take us into the evening.
This will be our biggest event of the year so come by if you can, wear your colors or any Pibber SWAG I have given to you in the past, and have a great time. Solly’s is located at 1942 11th st NW"
Should be a good time for anyone who is interested in stopping down. Hope to see you Gironkey's at practice tonight.

Good Day,
There will once again be practice tonight at 8 on Poplar tree park numero uno (that means number one in German). It's a big practice as it will be our last before our Triumphant return to Richmond and the Porter Cup. Also, there will be elections tonight so it is imperative to get there in order to vote. Remember if you don't vote you can't complain, so if you want to be able to complain vote tonight. Hope to see all your smiling faces out there tonight.
"You can swallow a pint of blood before you get sick" - Barge
Alrighty then,
Practice is tonight at 8 on Poplar Tree #1 and we need to keep getting positive numbers out for the Porter Cup coming up on Saturday. Hotel information can be found below and it appears that our first game will be at noon on Saturday. SO, we need the numbers if we are to dominate this tourney. I hear from Bushy that everyone will get plenty of time in this tourney so be prepared to drop it like it's hot.
In the other news that is fit to print, everyone better get CIPP'd by USA Rugby before the 31st of August or else.... you won't be able to play. Seem's simple enough also pay your due's, talk to James "It's Kitten, not Kitty" Bethune.

On this, the 1996th anniversary of Augustus's death we will be having practice in his honor. Poplar tree #1 at 8 in the post meridiem, we need as many people out as we can get, it's kinda like a demonstration in D.C, well except with rugby players and not hippies, those dirty, filthy, rotten, limp brained, self righteous, no meat eating, no worth having, jobless, pointless, aimless, hacky sacking, need to be pepper sprayed, tazered, clubbed and hit with a fire hose(because they don't shower anyway) reason's for contraception. Remember ladies the morning after pill can be a good thing, your kid could grow up to be a one of these piles of human garbage with no worth. So hopefully we can get the solid numbers out like we did on Tuesday.

Mecca lecca hi,
Practice had some fantastic numbers last night and hopefully it continues for the rest of the season. Having said that your fearless webmaster will be unfortunately missing practice tomorrow at 8 on Poplar tree #1 if weather permits, and as a results, you jokers just became collectively a lot uglier.
There will also be practice on Saturday, I need to get a confirmation on the time and place for that bad boy. I believe that is it in Rugby news for this fine Tuesday. In site news it looks like only about 15 people have voted on the very scientific poll that I posted about updating the site. When the number gets closer to 30 I will make a decision on what to do. There is also a need to update the player pages. I will post sumtin up on the message board as well about this.

Mornin'
Got some big, big stuff to report as the season has started up as of last Saturday and will be kicking into high gear starting Tuesday. First order of business is the new website which seems to be getting reviews from indifference to not bad to bad. So with that being said, I have a few more tweaks and I while it will be work in progress I will be launching that bad boy sometime in the near future.
Onto actually important news and not me stroking my ego with what little power I have on the internet. Practice starts in full effect this week so prepare to get your faces melted *guitar solo's*. Got this little message in from David "Wayne from Wonder Years" LaCroix:
Practice this Tuesday (8/17) is at 8pm at Poplar Tree #1. Seeing as how we only have 1hr 15min on Tuesdays, please arrive early and be booted and ready to go at 8. Also if anyone has team equipment (balls, cones, jerseys, etc) please bring them to Tuesdays practice.
Stunning in it's eloquence, also from the President "Fall schedule is still being tweaked so don't make other plans yet". I believe there is a schedule up on the message board, but since I only print the indisputable truth I will hold off on that little piece of news.
With that I am out...

Gents,
Seems as if business is picking up again. Concerning site news, I have done a redesign and need people to check the message board for my post on it. I need to know what works and what doesn't on the different web browsers and handheld devices.
Onto more pressing and interesting news, Fall practice will begin this Saturday the 14th at 10am at panzer pitch. Please make all efforts to be there. We will then have practices Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8pm at poplar tree park.

Let's try this again, with feeling this time...
The Pabst Blue Ribbon Cup (or the PBR Cup for those who are into the whole brevity thing) is tomorrow and info can be found in here: PBR_cup_invite.doc . Should be a good day for some great rugby and we will need all of the bodies we can get out there and ready to boogie down. The Eagles will be playing a League Exhibition game which should be interesting for those of you who have not seen the game before.
Seems as there was a typo in my last post but I can't seem to find it, So I am right and you guys who so dutifully pointed it out are wrong.

Practice is tonight in preparation of our Jets vs Sharks *snaps fingers* in epicness battle against Frederick on Saturday at thier crib. We are going to need mad heads at practice tonight so I hope to see all my peeps hanging from the rafters up in that piece.
In other related news there is the PBR* 10's tournament on May the 15th in the year of the lord 2010. Lil' bit of info can be found here: PBR_cup_invite.doc . That should be it for the news *Looks around the room and shines gold tooth*, yep that is it.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAANND we are back, been a while gents and for that I give a million apologies.
From the past week looks like a tough hard fought loss 38-16, with the team battling the elements (it twas HOT!) and rough crowd (cue the Gladiator music, are you not entertained?). But people let me tell you that was the past and this is the here and now! Tonight, practice is at Poplar Tree park from 7 to darktime in preparation of our epic clash (Gladiator music is still playing) with Frederick in Frederick. Elvis had left the building, but then he came back and dropped some knowledge:
This sat, May 8, Frederick will host Western Suburbs at Walnut Ridge Park in Frederick, MD. We will play A and B-side matches, A-side kickoff at 1pm, B-side to follow. There will be a women's match at 11am. Before the 1pm kickoff, there will be a brief announcement to announce the dedication of the rugby field in honor of Tobin Treibel. The post-match social will be in downtown Frederick, location and details TBD. Directions to the Pitch at Walnut Ridge Park 1166 Rocky Springs Road, Frederick, MD 21702 From Rt-15 North, take the Rosemont Avenue exit (exit 14) and turn right (left if coming from 15 South) at the bottom of the ramp (heading west towards Ft. Detrick). Travel for 1 mile (you will pass Montevue Lane) then turn left onto Rocky Springs Road. The sign is very small – if you reach a shopping center on your left you have gone too far. Walnut Ridge Park is 0.6 miles on your right with rugby field/posts.
Got it? Good. Practice will also be Thursday at 7 as well, so prepare for an epic battle which will test your mettle as a man and echo in eternity (turns of Gladiator music), sorry got carried away there a bit.
That's your Barge news for the day, hope it was as good for you as it was for me. *Slays Dragon, sheaths sword, and logs off internet*

LATE BREAKING NEWS!

See you all very soon *smiles and winks*

Ok, now for today's half hearted attempt at comedy, Just flew in from out of town and boy are my arms tired. So two blondes walk into a bar, one says ouch...
That's enough of that bidness, onto rugby bidness. Game is tomorrow on the home pitch with everyone expected to show up at or before, but not after 11:30 A.M. We need everyone to try to carpool and to also park on the grass at Steve Lough's place as there needs to be room for the bus to turnaround. Also, there is a U19 game happnin at 11 so it would be cool if people could get down there to support them.
David sent out an email detailing what a blackthorn is and if it's on wikipedia it must be true. However, leave it to a back to not get to the root of things as Blackthorn Rugby is actually an anagram for "RAH BOCK BRYN GLUT" and we all know what that means....
Hope to see all you gents out there tomorrow.

Happy Thursday, As I have been marked for death by someone who will remain nameless, I decided to give you all an insightfull yet down to earth and heartwarming post. This one is for you enBay oldsteinGay (Pig Latin itchesBay)
Practice is tonight at 7!(echo noises) on the pitch at Poplar Tree Park. We need to be fully prepared for our match with those blimey Blackthorn Blokes (Triple alliteration score!) at Steve Lough's pitch on Saturday. Note: There is a U19 game before ours starting at 11 A.M. and it would be great for the squad to get down there to support them. The children really are our future.
I believe that is it for me *shuffles papers and spits* and I hope to see you all out there tonight for another magnificent practice.

Ahoy,
Just got an email from everyone's favorite disgruntled dwarf deputy Dave "We prefer the term Vertically challenged and yes we do have knees" LaCroix about practice tonight, which is at 7 on poplar tree field, directions located below.
The game this week is at Home against Happy Valley. Hopefully they go home to Sad Valley(See what I did there?). On the financial front, pay your dues to James "Twelve Noon" Bethune which is $100 for vets and $50 for new guys. Also, CIPP yo self or you can't play.

Howdy ho, after a weekend which saw a couple of tough losses we will be practicing tonight in preparation for our game this weekend with NOVA B. The bat place: Panzer Pitch, the bat time: 6-8 in the P.M.
Hope to see all of your bright smiling faces there and hopefully it cools down a bit as I am built like an Inuit (that's Eskimo in ummm... eskimospeak) and thus not prepared for this heat. And yes I will be bitching about it all summer.
B.A.R.G.E. (Barge Always Rocks to Great Excess)
Gents, I give my deepest heartfelt apologies for my recent absence as the webmaster of this here site. I know it has been nigh on unbearable to not hear my wit charm and sense my dashing good looks, but I have been out of town seeing family and whatnot, but enough about me let's get right down to bidness.
After what I heard was a real close loss to Richmond by our A-siders we move onto a double shot this weekend with our A guys playing Warrenton and our B guys playing the French Roosters (I figured they would be called frogs, but C'est la vie). Concerning practice, we finish up at Hutchinson tomorrow night from 8-930, then we move to Panzer pitch on Thursday.
That just about does it for me, from here on forward I will attempt to be less of a waste of space, but at this point in my life I should probably just come to terms with that.

Today everyone is Irish, so put on your sunscreen when you are outside and do a little jig while your at it. This post is not about the people who would be ruling the planet if not for the invention of whiskey, it is about practice!
I just received a wee little note from our own wee little leprechaun Dave, for those new lads out there who want to get a little bit more instruction/ballwork/worst part of my week, um I mean running/ etc in, show up to the field at about 7:30. There won't be a pot of gold, but there will be Kris, so that is something. So long all ye lucky lads.

Finally, I would love to get a report about what in the blue blazes happened down in Savannah. Just shoot me an email or post it on the message board, and I will add it to the results page.Man of the hour, tooooooooo sweet to be sour.

With what remains of the squad we WILL be running practice on Saturday at Panzer pitch. Be booted up and ready to rock at 10 A.M.( Always Morning? Awesome Monkey? I can never tell with abbreviations, ftw). There is a need to have everyone there live and in color to prepare for the next game on the 20th of March at West Pot.
That's it for today on the news front, now to the weather, Jim? O right I don't have a weather department, I think that issue should be voted on in the next team meeting.

This is going to be a quick one as I am busy as ever, now there will be practice Wednesday night at Hutchinson Elementary. Be booted and ready to go by 8 P.M. Directions can be located below.
I did however find this and thought it would be worth a mention Rugby player making a great playing then booting all over the field. Reminds me of my college playing days, except without the great play part, just the booting lots and lots of booting. Gotta get back on the grind, unfortunately I will be missing practice tomorrow during the nicest week of the year so far because of class, but I will be there in spirit.
O and for those not heading to Savannah, any thoughts on touch Saturday?
Barge
What seems to be the cause of all this?
Tomorrow there will be a SCRIMMAGE at Panzer's Pitch, named for Fred Panzer a really lovely gent. SO, bring you teeth and bring guards to protect said teeth. We start up at 10 in the AM and hopefully the BEA-U-Tiful weather holds up.
O yes, Now for directions which can be found right about, wait for it.... BAM! The directions to Panzer's pitch are listed under the "Directions to the "Panzer Pitch"" section.
On a final note, we need to get some more props, not from like rappers, but props as in forwards.

Hey Hey Hey
Practice info for tonight and moving forward goes as follows, BOOM:
We have Hutchison Elementary (a lit turf field in Herndon across the road from House Of Wing) every Wednesday in March from 7:45-9:30pm.
This will be our only midweek practice in March. We will focus on rugby, not fitness, so train on your own.
Next Saturday on Panzer Pitch at 10 am.
April 1, 6 and 8 we will be at Panzer from 6-8pm.
We pick up Poplar Tree #1(grass) with lights from April 13 thru July from 7-10pm.
So for those who need to know about the here and now, TONIGHT at 7:45 we need everyone booted and ready to rock at Hutchinson Elementary (my dear Watson).
The field can be located at this address:
Hutchison Elementary School
13209 Parcher Avenue
Herndon, VA 20170
Barge
Due to inclement weather and the field being covered with ice, practice has been canceled. So instead there will be friendly get together at the Home of chicken arms(House of wing) in Herndon at 11 AM. Also the England vs Ireland 6 nations game starts at that particular time as well. There will be an attempt to get practice up and running (pun, booya) on Wednesday so keep checking here for your world wide leader in Western Suburbs news.

O Boy, that's a Bingo!
Practice is BEGUN! Got this little update last night from my favorite President (outside of Andrew Jackson of course). It reads:
"Here is our practice plan for this spring. We will start this Saturday at the Panzer pitch at 10 am. There may still be some snow but we will attempt to get some simple running and drills in followed by a nearby social hour. Please do not park in a resident reserved space-parking space designation may still be obscured by snow. We have Hutchison Elementary (a lit turf field in Herndon across the road from HOW) every Wednesday in March from 8-9:30pm. This will be our only midweek practice in March. We will focus on rubgy, not fitness, so train on your own. April 1,6 and 8 we will be at Panzer from 6-8pm. We pick up Poplar Tree #1(grass) with lights from April 13 thru July from 7-10pm. Everyone is expected to show up on Saturday to kick off the spring season."
Very well then practice at Panzers at 10 in the morning on Saturday. Directions and a preview of Kris.

Wow, I am about as good at this webmaster thing as I am running long distances. The site should be up and running just like it was before I decided to switch the style up. Super Barge is up up and AWAY!
As you can see the site has gone through a little facelift, some of the pages from before are missing and will be replaced. There is still some work to be done and I will be working valiantly to finish it, so fear not.
Looks like the season is about to pick up and there is a search for a reliable field and time to practice on said field. If anyone has input just shoot me an email. That is all from me for now, would like to thank the Beastie Boys from bringing me in on this post(They said I was welcome), such nice manners on the Brooklyn trio.
